Missing Left Sock Beast [userpic]

When the dark is rising, six shall turn it back
three from the circle, three from the track;
wood water fire, bronze iron stone;
five shall return and one go alone...

I'm so disappointed about the retitled "The Seeker." Ah, well.

My theory is they retitled it to shut off the "but that's not the story at all, really." Since when I saw the preview I said "you can't just use the title! Grr!" Well, now they're not.

"Five shall return and one go alone," I think.

I'm horrified - I can't find my copy of the books anywhere to confirm.

Where is your icon from?

amara_verite made a bunch of them, I forget who pointed me there, but she said they were snaggable with credit so I took two.

It is "five shall return;" I reread most of The Dark is Rising yesterday at work.
Am also rather pissed about the movie, which looks appalling. I will see it anyway--but one of the things that I loved about Will in the books was that there wasn't ever much posturing with him, or much "ooh, look how cool and powerful I am now!" or whining--just that he had a job, it was in front of him and he was going to do it. This kid doesn't seem so...competent.

Yeah, me too -- it breaks my heart to see it butchered like this :/

I don't know if I'm even going to Netflix it. From what I've been given to undertstand, a lot of it got trashed to make it more "marketable". Cause, you know, the books weren't selling AT ALL.

Maybe, MAYBE, prepare a compare/contrast between movie and novel for a literature lesson. Still mulling it over.

You could always look at doing it "right" (Narnia, HP, Stardust) and "wrong" (More movies than we can count, really)
