Missing Left Sock Beast [userpic]
My day is not improving.

I thought, since I was so tense, that I would come home and take a nice, leisurely, hot bath.

Wrong.

The stopper in my tub doesn't stop.

Sigh.

Possibly too late, but a Handy Tip -- grab a piece of Saran Wrap, and stick it between the drain and the stopper. Should work nicely :-)

It was too late for last night - does it work with the kind of tub where you push down on the stopper and the stopper "locks" in the down position? That's the kind I have. If so, I will definitely have to try it.

Thanks!

Put the stopper in; cover it with a square of plastic wrap, or a ziplock baggie with the zip cut off. The suction will keep the plastic down just fine.

ahahaha, Helpful Gen should read comments before commenting...

It's not a removable stopper, but I will definitely try this!

You might invest a couple of bucks on a "universal stopper" -- a big flat piece of rubber with a little bump on top for a handle that you should be able to buy in a hardware store's kitchen or plumbing area. I bought one for traveling since, when one travels as cheaply as I do, one often ends up using sinks or tubs with no stopper or faulty stoppers. Of course, if you kick a flat stopper, you lose your water; it can't "lock." :-)

I've tried those and they never work for me in bathtubs although they work OK in sinks.
