Missing Left Sock Beast [userpic]

I can't decide if this makes me a geek or a dork, but anyway:

Did anybody else cheer when they saw Lance Henriksen in AVP?  Because I had no idea he was in it (knew next to nothing about the movie until tonight, when I finally watched it).  And what is it with Colin Salmon, anyway, that he keeps getting cast in roles where he gets cubed?

[homer simpson]Mmmmm. Cubed salmon....[/hs]

Although I will give you the "yum" on the actor (because I think he is), this still cracked my happy ass up.

Speaking of movies, have you picked up Memento yet? I have Dead Poets' Society sitting at home waiting on you... ;)

Why yes. Picked it up. Watched it. Good movie. Pretty well done.

I had an idea for a similar story, and someone told me that Memento was kind of like that. After seeing the film, I like my idea better. ;)

Yeah that was pretty cool (I liked the movie more than I thought I would, even if it's totally outside the Alien and Predator storylines). adventdragon is a HUGE fan of both series, and he was a little miffed that they killed his character off. It would have made more sense for him to survive and be totally fascinated by the aliens, therefore setting up the idea of The Corporation being totally intent on finding them in the future.

Well, I've never seen the Predator movies, and came late to the Alien movies (random story: my sister was having a sleepover with a group of friends, and had asked Dad to pick them up a bunch of "horror" movies - you know, "Freddy the 13th" and the like. Well, it was late on Halloween, so Dad couldn't find any of the movies she'd asked him for, so he picked up Alien and Aliens instead. She had a hard time forgiving him because the Alien(s) scared them all so badly!).

However, in the DVD they do explain that this is set in the now rather than 150 years from now, and the Weyland corporation has been combined with a Japanese corporation. Somehow, someone got the news of the Aliens back to Weyland, though, since in Alien "Mother" definitely knows what she's looking for...

Well that was his beef - Weyland should have survived to make it back to actually tell someone about this. As it was, there was no way that woman was going to tell ANYONE about what she went through. So how, then, did the company find out about them?

Daniel's all logical like that. :D

random tangent -- did you know Quentin Tarantino is lobbying for the rights to make a new Friday the 13th movie?

More than your average bloodbath I'd imagine....

(You know I'm neither a Quentin nor a Jason fan, but still -- t'would be quite a combination....)
