Missing Left Sock Beast [userpic]
My exciting life

I bought some of the cheap-ass Target needles because I was having trouble finding any other US #4s in the entirety of Reno, NV.

The yarn that I called and bugged Patternworks about yesterday? It arrived, also yesterday, and so I finally needed the straight 4s. This morning, I tried casting on with the Target needles.

Fuck that shit. I'm going to my LYS at lunch and begging them for size fours - straights, circs or DPNs, I don't care at this point, but these Target needles are going in the trash.

Yeah, you get what you pay for. But I'd seen other reviews of them, and didn't think they'd be THAT bad...

In other news, Mom was telling me that the boy dog, ninny that he is, climbed into the bathtub during the thunderstorms earlier in the week, managed to close the door on himself, and was stuck there until Mom came home. Plus a little extra time while she berated him for being an idiot.

He's so sweet, and so dumb.

Feeling:: okayokay

are the target needles that bad? I bought a couple (bigger sizes) because I figured you can never have too many needles. What was so terrible about them?

They're very coarse, for one thing; even burnishing them didn't help the problem. Also, believe it or not, the points are a bit too sharp and were splitting my nice wool yarn (pout).

I don't know that the problem with the points would be carried to the larger size needles, though; it may just be because these needles are small.

(as far as not having too many needles - I did some cleaning in my apartment this weekend and discovered that I own seven (!) pairs of US 7 needles. How the heck did that happen?)

ah. the points don't look too bad, but I guess we'll see. Otherwise they may end up as a pretty display.

Seven pairs? Woah! I have one plastic and one aluminum pair...but I have at least two aluminums of every other size from 1-10(my grandma stopped knitting...yay!), plus a few bigger ones, and a few more plastic ones I got myself. Next I grab a 40% off coupon for Michael's and go bamboo shopping! :)
